Day 1 Complete!

Today we lazed around in the morning and watched the Prologue for the Tour de France before going on a nice spin.  The Prologue is a time trial and was a lot of fun to watch--here is one of the most impressive moments, where Peter Sagan (who races for the Liquigas-Cannondale team) almost lost his bike but was able to make an amazing recovery.  My favorite thing was the picture below: David Zabriskie (Garmin-Sharp-Barracuda) wore his Captain America cycling jersey to showcase his love for comics!  I think it is absolutely wonderful and it really adds to the sport when you can see the personalities of the riders coming through.

Our ride today was 24.37 miles, just over the average 23 miles a day that I need to do to stay on track for my goal.  I am hoping to get out on at least two 30-40 mile rides each week so I can have some cushion on days where I can't ride or want to take a break, but I'm really happy with the mileage we got in today.  Here's a picture of me right before we turned around:

Go Cougs!

As I write this, we've just arrived back from an event at the local winery and I am watching an impressive lightning show with almost constant thunder.  It is beautiful but I am suspicious about the weather tomorrow so I am glad we got out today.  I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend and got a chance to spend some time outside if you had good weather today.  If you didn't, then I hope tomorrow gives you an opportunity to get outside and do whatever you like doing!

Oh, and here is the ride we did today!  If you want to see better views of our routes, you can see some of my profile by searching for me on mapmyride.com or making an account and "friending" me.  Or, better yet, come on a bike ride with me!
